Energy Conservation Society (Thrissur chapter) is functioning in the college. The object of the Society is to foster all forms of energy and to protect the environment for the sustainable development of our country. Following are the few activities of the ECS.

INDUSTRY- INSTITUTE INTERACTION CELL
Industry-Institute Interaction Cell is functioning in this college as a forum for interaction between industries and the college, for mutual benefit. Industries can help the institutions by sponsoring R & D activities, involving themselves in the curriculum preparation and providing placement to deserving candidates. The testing and laboratory facilities in the college can be utilized by the industries for their day to day needs. Further, the innovative ideas of the students can be pooled for commercial applications. Also it will help the industries to keep abreast with the developments in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology. A committee consisting of representatives from industry and the faculty is monitoring the activities of the cell. It is maintaining close liaison with the District Industries Center and financial institutions.
The professor in charge of the cell is Dr. M.K. Balakrishnan Nayar.
Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), a constituent of Canada-India Co-operation Project has identified 24 Technical Institutions in India as Centers of Continuing Education. The Government Engineering College, Thrissur is one of the National Centers, identified by ISTE as Center of Excellence. These are Institutions with proven capability and the centers are managed by a senior Professor as Manager. Training is imparted through these centers to the personnel from industries with the overall objective of keeping them update with the developments in Engineering and Technology.

A Parent Teacher Association is actively working in the college. The objectives of the Association are:
All parents/guardians of the students on the rolls of the college and members of teaching faculties of the college are members of the Association. It is compulsory for a parent/guardian of a student on the rolls of the college to be a member of the Parent Teacher Association.
