Eligibility for Admission
A pass in the Pre-Degree (10+2 level ) Examination of the Universities
in Kerala State or examinations considered equivalent thereto with Mathematics,Physics
and Chemistry as optional subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics
and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
The requirements are relaxed for candidates eligible for reservation
in various categories. For details, see the official documentations.
Residency
There are residency rules which restrict candidates applying from other
states.
Age Limit
Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on the 31st December
1996. No relaxation of the minimum age limit shall be made on any account.
Selection
Admission of applicants into various programs is based on the rank obtained
in an entrance examination common to most of the engineering colleges in
the state. There are reservations available for socially backward classes
and candidates from outside of Kerala.

Degree Requirements
Scheme of Examinations
There shall be University examinations at the end of the first academic
year and at the end of every semester from third semester onwards in subjects
as prescribed under the respective scheme of examinations. Every candidate
shall register for the examination. A candidate who does not register for
the examination shall not be permitted to attend the next semester.
A candidate will be permitted to appear for the University examination
only if he/she satisfies the following requirements.
- He/She must secure not less than 75% attendance in the number of working
hours during the first year and in each semester thereafter.
- He/She must earn a progress certificate from the Principal of having
satisfactorily completed the course of study prescribed for the semester.
- His/Her conduct must be satisfactory.
It shall be open to the Vice-Chancellor to grant condonation of shortage
of attendance on the recommendation of the Principal in accordance with
the following norms.
- The shortage shall not be more than 10%.
- Shortage up to 20% shall be condoned only once during the entire course
provided such shortage is caused by continuous absence on genuine medical
grounds.
- Shortage shall not be condoned more than 4 times during the entire
course.
A candidate who is not eligible for condonation of attendance shall repeat
the course.
Minimum for a Pass in a course
- Not less than 50% marks at the university examination or not less than
40% marks at university examination and not less than 50% marks at university
examination and sessional assessment combined.
- For seminar, project work and viva voce of the VIII semester the minimum
for a pass shall be 50% of the marks in the respective subject.
- Under certain conditions, candidate shall be allowed to reappear for
one or more papers of a semester examination in order to improve the marks.
Procedure for Completing the Program
- A candidate shall be eligible to undergo the course of study in any,
semester, if he/she has completed satisfactorily the course of study in
the previous semester, except in the fifth and seventh semester
- A candidate shall be eligible to undergo the course of study in the
fifth semester if he/she has completed the course of study in the fourth
semester and passed all the examinations of the combined first and second
semesters.
- A candidate shall be eligible to undergo the course of study in the
seventh semester if he has completed satisfactorily the course of study
in the sixth semester and passed all the examinations of the third and
fourth semesters.
Classification of Successful Candidates
- A candidate who qualifies for the degree passing all the subjects of
the eight semesters within five academic years (ten consecutive semesters)
after the commencement of his course of study and secures not lass than
75% of the aggregate of total marks of all the semesters assigned to the
university examinations and sessional evaluation shall be declared to have
passed the BTech (Engineering) Degree Examination in FIRST CLASS WITH
HONORS.
- A candidate who qualifies for the degree passing all the subjects of
eight semesters within five academic years (ten consecutive semesters)
after the commencement of his course of study and secures not less than
60% of the aggregate of total marks of all semesters assigned to the university
examinations and sessional evaluation shall be declared to have passed
the BTech (Engineering) Degree Examination in FIRST CLASS.
For classification, improved marks will be taken into consideration.
- All other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed the
examination for the degree in SECOND CLASS.
- Successful candidates who complete the examinations in 4 academic years
(eight consecutive semesters) shall be ranked branch-wise on the basis
of aggregate marks in the university examinations, of all the semesters.
