Eligibility for Admission

Pass in BTech Degree Examination or equivalent examination recognized by the University of Calicut in the respective branch of study.

Selection

Admission is normally based on the percentile score obtained in GATE ( Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) and such candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs. 1,800 per month

Degree Requirements

Scheme of Examinations

There shall be university examination at the end of the first and second semesters in all subjects prescribed in the respective scheme of examinations.There will also be a viva voce examination based on the thesis/dissertation submitted.

A candidate will be permitted to appear for the University Examination in a subject prescribed in the first and second semesters if he/she satisfies the following requirements:

• He/she must have secured not less than 80% attendance in the subject concerned. The Syndicate of the University shall have the power to condone shortage of attendance up to 10% in each subject on the recommendation of the head of the institution.
• He/she must earn a satisfactory conduct and progress certificate from the Head of the institution.

A Candidate who does not register for all the Examinations for the regular chance at the end of a semester shall not be permitted to attend the next semester.

An examination may be canceled within a period of two weeks and supplementary examination taken by him on any subject, provided the cancellation is done within a period of two weeks from the date of the said examination. However the canceled attempt will be counted towards the eligible number of chances.

Minimum for a Pass in a course

A candidate who secures not less than 50% marks at the University Examination or a minimum of 40% marks in the University examinations and not less than 50% aggregate including sessional and University Examination in a subject shall be declared to have passed the examination in that subject.

Classification of Successful Candidates

• A candidates who qualifies for the Degree passing all the subjects of the examinations in the first attempt securing an aggregate of not less than 75% of the total marks (written plus sessional) at the Examinations of the first two semesters combined shall be declared to have passed the M.Tech Degree Examination in FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS provided his/her thesis/dissertation is ACCEPTED.
• With an aggregate of not less than 60% of the total marks at the examination of the first two semesters combined, the candidate shall be placed in FIRST CLASS Provided his/her thesis/dissertation is ACCEPTED.
• All other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed the examination for the Degree in SECOND CLASS.
